What is Drag Racing?
In its
purest form, a drag race is held between two cars from a controlled set of
lights over a measured quarter mile straight track with the first to the
finish line declared the winner. There are various types of race formats
from heads-up competition to bracket racing.
Bracket
racing is a form of drag racing whereby vehicles of different performance
levels can compete on a potentially even basis. The anticipated elapsed
times are compared for each vehicle, with the slower car receiving a head
start equal to the difference of the two. With this system, virtually any
two vehicles can be paired in a competitive drag race.

What do I need to do to my car to Drag Race?
When you go

the tech inspection your vehicle is checked to ensure that basic safety
systems are working. They will check your brakes, lug nuts, throttle return
spring, that your battery is tight so that they cables don't come undone if
your battery slides around, your seat belt is functional, and your radiator
overflow catch can. They check to make sure you do not have any fluid
leaks. They have you remove you center caps.
